The 2002-2004 Mitsubishi Evolution VIII factory rated at 280HP grounds about 210whp on our dyno.  The 2005+ (non MR) versions with its larger 10.5 turbine housing usually averages about 215whp. 

The Gruppe-S Power Package #1 is designed to provide the most effective “power for the dollar” solution for your factory EVO.  The most effective modification on your turbo car is to open up your exhaust system.  The Helix V3 downpipe and the Helix V3 exhaust increases your EVO’s exhaust diameter to 76mm (3.0”).  Built with robotic mandrel bends, tig welding, and a high-flow muffler this exhaust system maximizes your exhaust flow yielding substantial horsepower gains.  The highly-restrictive factory cat is also replaced with either Helix test-pipe or the Helix high-flow catalytic converter*.  Finally, the Helix 02 housing replaces your factory cast-unit which helps to increase power, turbo spool-up, and response.  Unlike the competition, our Helix turbo-back package is fully designed to work with all 2003+ Evolution’s including all 6-speed and ACD equipped cars and is specifically designed for the US Spec Evolution.

On the intake side, we found that at Stage 1-3 performance levels, the factory intake is able to support the increases in power.  We opted  to use the HKS drop-in filter for a bit more flow. 

With the installation of the Gruppe-S Stage One Power Package you will gain a solid 20-25whp over the factory EVO.  But that is only half the story.  With the Gruppe-S Reflash your EVO will be properly calibrated to maximize the performance potential of our power package one.  The Gruppe-S Reflash, when used in conjunction with your Stage One components will yield an incredible 35-40whp gain with noticeable improvements throughout the power band.  Your turbocharger will spool faster and your throttle response and boost on-set will improve.  In short your 280HP EVO becomes a 330 HP monster.

*Test-pipes are legal for off-road / race use only.  Helix high-flow cats are recommended for street duty.

Helix 02 Housing - The Helix EVO 8 02 housing replaces the restrictive cast factory unit to allow better exhaust flow and separation of wastegate gases.  This yields gains in boost response, spool-up, and horsepower.

Helix Downpipe - Helix EVO 8 downpipe replaces the restrictive factory unit to ensure optimal exhaust flow for high horsepower applications.

*Although the Helix Downpipe will clear the factory lower arm bar, we recommend the use of spacers or a Cusco lower arm bar as the engine tends to sag with age and may ultimately result in clearance issues in the future.

   
Helix Catback Exhaust - The final piece of the turbo-back system, the Helix Cat-back exhaust replaces the restrictive factory unit with a 76mm free-flowing exhaust.

Gruppe-S Reflash - With our years of experience tuning high-performance race vehicles such as the WRX US-Touring Car, Grand-Am car, as well as numerous Rally and drag cars, we have perfected the art of tuning a high performance vehicle and extracting the maximum power without compromising safety.

Our Power-Package #1 reflash, is developed exclusively to be used in conjunction with our Power-Package #1 components.  Through extensive road and dyno-testing our flash adjusts boost maps, ignition maps, fuel trims, and various other parameters to maximize the effects of installation our power-package parts.  Built in are ECU safety features such as knock control and fuel trim, creating a safe and reliable tune.  Gains of over 15whp are achieved compared to just installing parts alone.  Our map is designed for California 91 octane.*

We offer a map loading service if you do not have technical knowledge to load your own ECU maps.

*California 91 octane is generally regarding as the worst 91 octane in the country.  Therefore our 91 octane map is compatible throughout the country as long as 91+ octane gas is used.  You may see additional horsepower gains if your car is fine-tuned for higher octane gas. 



1. Gruppe-S Loading Service - You send us your ECU, we will load in the Gruppe-S Stage 1 Reflash for you and return your ECU to you via overnight shipping. 

2. Software Only - If you purchase the software only, you only need to provide us with your ECU number and VIN number.  We will send you an electronic copy of our the Gruppe-S Stage 1 Reflash specifically encoded for your ECU.  You will need a general understanding of reflashing techniques and you MUST possess the hardware to be able to reflash your vehicle.  If you do not know how to reflash your own vehicle, please choose option #1.
